In 1973 the Philadelphia Orchestra embarked on a history-making tour of China, marking the beginning of an explosion of interest in Western classical music there which continues to this day. A new documentary chronicles the story of the tour as well as the effect it had on Chinese culture. A preview of the film will be followed by a discussion of how China and the U.S. can cooperate to advance classical music into the future. With producer Jennifer Lin, Jindong Cai, and guests.
