more information

Beethoven in Beijing explores how the Philadelphia Orchestra began a relationship with China that flourishes to this day. Tonights’s discussion will take their story as a starting point and look forward to what may be to come. Certainly the power of music to connect across cultures, time and space is more relevant than ever in the historic moment we find ourselves in today.

The public vaguely assumes that classical music is in decline. But if you look closely, you’ll conclude that it’s more accurate to say that this 400-year-old art form has been disrupted by globalism and technology, and is emerging newly transformed.
